Sub Station Control

Before Upgrade

  • A 20 years old Allen Bradley PLC 5/60 redundant PLC system controlling and monitoring the HV equipment in the in-take sub and 13 sub-stations ( about 2,400 I/Os system) in Melbourne was due to replaced by the latest Controllogix PLC.
  • A complete re-write of the PLC program for tne in-take Sub PLC and each PLC program in the sub-Staton PLC ( a total of 13 off PLC programs).
  • A new HMI ( panelview ) was added as part of the upgrade.
  • A complete address changes for the Scada to work with the new PLC

PLC Control After Upgrade


  • A successfull upgrade was completed in 6 months time.
  • Control Variable, CV = Gas Burner Firing Rate
  • The new HMI, panelview provide a backup terminal for the HV operator
  • Minimum changes in the PLC and field wiring ( I/O wiring ) changes.
